Network Access Control - "The Sexy Security Solution" , Part 2

In the first part of this post I spoke about how hot the network access control market is right now.  Like any hot market, there is no shortage of solutions vying for a slice of the pie.  Here at StillSecure, we think we have the winning horse in this race.  Safe Access was one of the first solutions to market in this area and has continued to evolve and become more powerful over time.  There are I think 2 key reasons for its success, the first is its flexibility and the second is its ability to leverage the rest of our security suite and other products and technologies as well.  This latter piece is a result of the Enterprise Integration Framework which we have developed for Safe Access.  It is similar in function to the EIF we also developed for our vulnerability management platform, VAM.  Utilizing the EIF, Safe Access can leverage and integrate with many different types of solutions. I usually explain it by saying their are three levels of integration possible.  One is with our other StillSecure security solutions which make up the StillSecure suite.  The second is leveraging other security technologies like Cisco NAC, MS NAP, host based intrusion detection, behavior or anomaly based IPS, etc.  The third level is with network control and management solutions like an Open View, Tivoli, etc.   The power of integration with EIF is a huge advantage for Safe Access.  However, flexibility is still the number one reason that separates SA from the pack.  By flexibility I refer to:

  1. SA 's ability to deploy using either agent-less, thin agent or web delivered active-x test technology
  2. Network topology that SA can use - SA can be deployed to work with your DHCP servers, it can leverage your 802.1x compliant switches capability, SA can also sit in line as a level 2 bridge, utilize Cisco NAC and 2 new methods which we will be announcing shortly
  3. SA's depth of testing and ability to easily create and change tests and policies for access control.  With an extensible testing engine utilizing standard python scripting language, SA has the most in depth and easiest to customize testing environment in the market.

Safe Access is a key component of our success going forward and we will continue to improve its feature set going forward.  In the meantime anytime you are logging into a network over the coming months, take notice if your device is being scanned for compliance with access policies
